Ultra high speed jet hand dryers use high speed brushless motors that rapidly strip water from wet hands, resulting in very short drying times that are typically measured in seconds rather than tens of seconds. Whereas traditional hand dryers rely on hot air as much as air speed, the development of modern brushless motors has enabled jet hand dryers to develop airspeeds of 400 miles per hour or more. At these speeds water is literally foreced from the palms and backs of hands in seconds. The effect is rather like putting your hands out of an open car window whilst travelling at motorway speeds, although because higher air speeds are involved the localised air force is much greater.
The most effective jet hand dryers have a ergonomic 'blade' design which focusses two thin high speed streams of air which simultaneously dry the palms and the backs of hands as they enter and are withdrawn from the hand dryer. Jet hand dryers are also available in more traditional hand dryer designs, which although lacking the ergonomic advantages of the blade design are lower cost and more compact, whilst still out-performing traditional hand dryers in terms of drying time.
Whilst a short drying time is particularly advantageous in high traffic locations such as pubs or nightclubs where queuing can be problematic, they are equally at home in any office or commercial environment where a modern, effective and fast solution is required to the traditional problem of hand drying without creating the mess, cost and inconvenience associated with paper towels.
