Electric Showers

Instant showers are 'cold feed only' use a powerful electric element that instantly heats incoming water to a comfortable shower temperature. If the incoming cold water supply is at very low pressure pressure then a pumped electric shower may be required. Mixer showers use stored hot water and rather than an electric element control may be either manual or thermostatic. Shower towers are mixer variants that have a combination of body jets and showerheads in one complete unit. Mixer showers that that use high pressure hot water systems such as unvented mains pressure storage cylinders or Combi boilers are designed to supply hot water at high flow rates without requiring additional pumps. However if your hot water system is low pressure (typically if you have a traditional gravity fed copper tank with a cold water cistern) then the water flow rate through a shower is likely to be relatively low and a power shower may be required to raise the pressure of water supplying the shower.
